A veterinary pathologist is a doctor of veterinary medicine who specializes in the diagnosis of diseases by examining animal tissue and body fluids. They determine the cause of disease through laboratory analysis and observation, as well as by performing necropsies or biopsies and by using specialized pieces of laboratory equipment and microscopes. The veterinary pathologist will then advise the veterinarian about the disease or diseases they detect.
